Meet Our Leadership

Brayton Erickson

Executive Director

Hey, I’m Brayton Erickson! I have the honor of serving as the Executive Director of the Butte Rescue Mission, where I’m committed to bringing hope and support to those in need. I help guide the Mission’s operations and outreach, working to ensure we make a real impact in the community. I’m passionate about creating sustainable solutions for homelessness and food insecurity, partnering with others to bring lasting change. My leadership is rooted in faith, compassion, and a deep desire to serve. Above all, my greatest joy is my family—my wife, Sydne Erickson, and our children—who inspire and support me every step of the way.

Our Staff

Syd Erickson
Development Coordinator
I’m Sydne Erickson! I’m passionate about helping people become wholly healthy—mind, body, and spirit. In my work in development, I support Brayton and help organize events, staff, programming, and more to create meaningful impact. Jesus, my kids, and my community mean the world to me, and I’m always looking for ways to bring hope, healing, and connection to those around me. And when I’m not working, you’ll probably find me near the water—it’s my happy place!
Misty Johnston
Director of Operations & Programming
I wear a lot of hats at the mission working as Director of Operations and women and family Life Advisor. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Support Program Services. I have lived in Montana all of my life and have been in Butte for the past 10 years. I have 3 sons who are the light of my life. I am a firm believer of Jesus Christ and an overcomer of addiction and homelessness. I love working at the Butte Rescue Mission because I myself have felt the hopelessness of homelessness and it is a blessing to see God turn my experiences into hope for others.
Tatum Gibson
Marketing Coordinator
My name is Tatum Gibson, I joined the BRM team through the Thrift Store at the beginning of 2021, I spent a year managing the Thrift Store before joining the Executive team to expand our community outreach through Marketing. I attended school at Miles Community College and the University of Montana, while I was in college I earned a Social Media Marketing internship and I discovered my talent and love for the field. I love everything the Butte Rescue Mission does and stands for. The Impact we make on our community and in people's lives is so important. My goal is to tell the people who may not know about us, what it is we do. That's how we make a bigger difference in our community and in the lives of the people we serve.
Christal Smith
Retired CPA
Hi, I help at the Mission with finances. My husband Warren and I have lived in Butte for 21 years and have enjoyed raising our two children here. I love to cross country ski, bike, run and play volleyball… pretty much anything active makes me happy. I have enjoyed a long career providing full service accounting for companies from healthcare & restaurants to non-profits. I want to support the Butte Rescue Mission because I have a heart for non-profit organizations and bringing fiscal responsibility to the picture helps them create a solid foundation for financial success.
Stan Hough
Program Director
Hello my name is Stan Hough & I am the Restoration Program Director here at the Butte Rescue Mission. As long as I can remember Pastors & other people in the Ministry would tell me "Boy you have a calling on your life". I decided pulling a Jonah would be a good idea which led me through addiction but Praise God for his faithfulness in leading me out of it. I decided to try things God's way and answer that call in 2008. Since then I have been blessed to have the opportunity to work full time in Faith-based recovery. In 2019 I got my AA in Addiction Studies & now feel the Lord telling me to get Licensed as a pastor.I try to follow Micah 6:8 which says, He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
