  Mission Drop-In Center

A Welcoming Space for Growth, Connection, and Sobriety

The Butte Rescue Mission Drop-In Center is open Monday through Friday 9am to 3pm.

Launched in Fall 2024, the Butte Rescue Mission’s Drop-In Center has quickly become a vital space for individuals navigating mental health challenges or working toward sobriety. Open to all, the center offers a supportive, judgment-free environment where people can find community, healing, and hope.

Through engaging activities like arts and crafts, group exercises, and support groups, guests are able to explore creativity, build connections, and develop tools for personal growth. Certified behavioral health peer support specialists—many with lived experience—are on staff to walk alongside each person on their journey, offering understanding, encouragement, and guidance.

In just the first quarter, 11 individuals have successfully transitioned from the Drop-In Center into our Restorative Program. This success is a direct result of the low-barrier support model, which allows us to walk with individuals through detox and early recovery—without the restrictions of labels or diagnoses. The focus is on human connection, meeting people exactly where they are, and offering support in a way that feels real and relatable.

The Drop-In Center isn’t just a place to gather—it’s a place to grow. And with plans for expansion in 2025, its impact will only continue to deepen and transform lives throughout our community.

Key Programs

  Meals

Daily Meal Times:
Breakfast: 6:30 – 7:00am
Lunch: 12:00 – 12:30pm
Dinner: 6:00 – 6:30pm
At the Butte Rescue Mission, we are committed to ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. Our food services are designed to provide more than just meals—they offer nourishment, comfort, and a sense of belonging. Every day, we serve warm, nutritious meals to individuals and families in need, fostering a sense of community through shared meals that offer not only food but also hope and support.

In addition to our daily meals, we provide emergency food assistance and collaborate with local organizations to combat food insecurity in Butte. Our offerings include daily meals, to-go sack lunches, emergency food boxes, and a free food pantry stocked with donations available to anyone in need when surplus items are available.

Through these efforts, we aim to meet immediate needs while also supporting long-term solutions to hunger in our community. We’re here to ensure that no one has to go without.

  Groceries

At the Butte Rescue Mission, we are committed to helping you access the resources you need to thrive. We can assist you with connecting to the Butte Emergency Food Bank, Action Inc., and with navigating the application process for SNAP benefits.

In times of immediate need, we also provide emergency food boxes for housed individuals when the Butte Emergency Food Bank is closed. Additionally, our free-food pantry, located on our porch, is available daily for anyone in need, offering a variety of nutritious items to help you get by.

We are here to support you and ensure that you have access to the essentials that can make a real difference in your life.

  Emergency Shelter

The Butte Rescue Mission’s Low Barrier Emergency Shelter stands as a vital resource in our community, addressing the pressing needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. With Montana witnessing alarming increases in homelessness, the significance of emergency shelters like ours cannot be overstated.

This shelter is open to any adult, regardless of addiction or criminal issues, so long as they are not a danger to themselves or others and they abide by the rules. If someone is struggling, we offer a warm bed, shower, and laundry access, a hot meal, and warm clothing.

WE OFFER EMERGENCY SHELTER NIGHTLY FOR ALL ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS UNTIL WE REACH CAPACITY.

Check-In: 4:30 pm – Please do not arrive before 4pm.
We have neighborhood agreements that allow guests to arrive ½ hour before check-in to get into line, but not before. Thank you!

This initiative ensures that individuals experiencing homelessness have access to essential medical services, helping to address both immediate and long-term health concerns. By offering care in a familiar and accessible location, BRM and Southwest Montana Community Health Center work together to improve health outcomes and support the well-being of the community’s most vulnerable members.

  Clothing & Hygiene Support

At the Butte Rescue Mission, we believe in meeting people where they are and offering practical support with compassion and dignity. Whether you’re a resident in our Restoration Program, a guest staying at the Emergency Shelter, or a member of the community facing hard times, we want you to know—you’re not alone.

We offer free clothing and shoes, available 24/7 on our front porch for anyone in need. No appointment or sign-up is required—just take what you need when you need it.

If you’re looking for additional essentials, such as hygiene products, please don’t hesitate to speak with a staff member. We’re happy to provide basic hygiene supplies to help you feel clean, cared for, and supported.

Our goal is to make sure everyone who comes to BRM feels seen, respected, and cared for—because everyone deserves access to the basics, and everyone deserves kindness.
